Our School Council represents the views of all our pupils. It gives children the opportunity to make their voices heard and contribute to the leadership of our school.
Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) says that children and young people should have a say in decisions that affect their lives.
One of the fundamental British Values is democracy. This means that everyone who is old enough to vote (currently aged 18 and over) has a say in how our country is run. At school, this means that every pupil has a say in how our school is run.
A school council can provide a meaningful way in which pupils can voice their opinions and have their views taken into account in decisions that impact upon them.
School council elections
Those children interested in becoming School Councillor were asked to prepare a speech for their classmates explaining why they have the skills and attributes to do the job well. The class then voted for the person they thought would be an effective Councillor.
Congratulations to 2024/25 elected Councillors!
