School Council

Our School Council represents the views of all our pupils. It gives children the opportunity to make their voices heard and contribute to the leadership of our school.

Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) says that children and young people should have a say in decisions that affect their lives.

One of the fundamental British Values is democracy. This means that everyone who is old enough to vote (currently aged 18 and over) has a say in how our country is run. At school, this means that every pupil has a say in how our school is run.

A school council can provide a meaningful way in which pupils can voice their opinions and have their views taken into account in decisions that impact upon them.

School council elections

Those children interested in becoming school councillor were asked to prepare a speech for their classmates explaining why they have the skills and attributes to do the job well. The class then voted for the person they thought would be an effective councillor.

Congratulations to 2025/26 elected councillors!

-     Pasta is boiled properly now – it is soft.

-     Sandwiches are better – both slices are the same.

-     The pizza dough is cooked better than before.

-     Fries are cooked properly and are not hard anymore.

-     Portion sizes are better.

March 2025

School lunches

What we like:

  • veggie fish fingers
  • burgers
  • chicken
  • pizza
  • sheesh kebab and naan
  • stir fry
  • macaroni
  • wraps
  • chips
  • cakes
  • brownies
  • most desserts
  • "I didn't enjoy school dinners before but I do now."

What can be improved:

  • portion sizes can be made slightly bigger for ks2 children
  • rice is sometimes uncooked
  • pasta is sometimes raw
  • naan is too doughy
  • sandwiches are made with mixed bread (one side is white bread and the other side is brown bread) - can we have the same bread?
  • Too much vegetables are given and are being wasted. Can we be given less and whoever wants more can ask for more so no wastage?
  • Chips are too squishy
  • Cutlery and trays are sometimes dirty
  • The water given to drink is not always clean

February 2025

  • R said, "I usually feel stiff in the morning and after the exercises I could move better."
  • M said, "before I was sleepy, after I was awake."
  • I said, "it gave me lots of energy to do work and not be lazy."
  • "We should do it daily because it freshens our brain and wakes us up."
  • "I feel as if I've achieved something."

  • Report people who send nasty messages and tell a trusted adult.
  • Don’t share emails/ passwords.
    What we want to learn:
