Parent Workshop with Police Community Support Officer
Police Community Support Officer Adham Khan came into school to raise awareness of the dangers of vaping, knife crime, nitrous oxide, county lines and gang grooming.
It was extremely well attended and very well-received. Many parents expressed the need for this kind of workshop to be a regular occurrence. His presentation went through how easy children get influenced and what parents can do.
How to safeguard children
Parents can ensure they communicate with their children regularly.
Be their friend, confidante.
Know their friends.
Spend time with them, doesn't matter how long, as long as it is of quality.
Any changes of behaviour should be picked up and discussed.
Parents feed back -
"The workshop was very beneficial and I feel that it is an obligation for parents in this time and age to attend such workshops to spread awareness and educate ourselves. We are our children's protectors and without education on these topics, we are simply letting our children down"
"good topics discussed, more info on what parents can do prevent such things"
"workshop was very useful"
" Eye-opening"

Participation in the project will help the students of Al-Furqan Primary to develop their skills as future humanitarians and will also provide an educational experience through understanding the work of non- government organisations such as Islamic relief which aim to alleviate poverty.
Aqua Aid- The Africa Trust
At Al-Furqan Primary School, we are aware that keeping our children and staff hydrated will aid them to perform at their very best throughout the day.
As a result, we decided to invest in https://www.aquaidwatercoolers.co.uk/ from AquAid.
Our unique relationship with AquAid has also given our School the opportunity to help those less fortunate than ourselves, because with each purchase an automatic donation is made to The Africa Trust.
These funds are used to build ‘Elephant Pumps’ - a modified version of an age old Chinese rope pulley system. One such pump is currently being installed in Africa on our behalf and it will be a much needed source of clean and fresh drinking water for many.
Our School’s name will be proudly displayed on our well and we look forward to adding a photo, a certificate and a letter of thanks from the villagers to our website in the near future.
To date AquAid have built over 8,000 such Elephant Pumps across parts of Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe and have donated in excess of £16 million to charity.
