At Al-Furqan Primary School Music is an integral part of life. Our intention is that children gain a firm understanding of what music is through listening, singing, playing, evaluating, analysing, and composing.
We are committed to making music an enjoyable learning experience and ensuring that children understand the value and importance of music in the wider community, and are able to use their musical skills, knowledge, and experiences to involve themselves in music, in a variety of different contexts. We aim to engage, motivate and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and to increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. We want the children to feel able, reflective, and expressive, developing their own appreciation of music with the opportunities we provide as a school.
Music is taught by class teachers using Music Express as well as by Specialist music service teachers: (Singing (charanga): Reception – Year 3) and (Drumming: Year 3 – Year 6). Hence, Children are able develop their musical experiences in a more diverse way.
