The Key to Success

By Dede Pourahmadi on Thursday, March 1, 2018

On Thursday 1st March, Al-Furqan Primary School celebrated World Book Day to highlight the Importance of Reading and inspire a passion for reading amongst all our pupils. The National Literacy Trust has reported that thousands of children around the UK do not own a book ! Each year, on World Book day, school children in the Uk are given £1 voucher to spend on a book of their choice.

Children in year 5M, enjoyed coming to school dressed as their favourite book character! Following a game of charades where the children mimed different book characters, all pupils shared their favourite 5 books, authors, characters, illustrators   and also their favourite lines ! Finally, they all enjoyed designing a brand new book cover for one of their favourite books !

World book day was really fun! We got to see every ones costumes. I liked playing charades, first you had to pick a card, but try not look at it. Then we stuck it onto our heads and the rest of your team had to act out who you were. I also had fun designing our own brand new book cover for our favourite book. I can’t wait for world book day next year!

World book day was really fun! It was really fun to see everyone’s costume. It was amazing when we played charades, first we picked a card and put it up on our forehead. The rest of the team had to act it out. Then we designed our own book cover which was really fun. I can’t wait for world book day next year!
