Interfaith Day 2016 – ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which can change the world’.

By Afizia Ali on Monday, July 4, 2016

On Monday 4th July, children from AFPS and St. Anne’s RC Primary had an opportunity to take part in our Interfaith Day.

This important day in the AFPS calendar was an opportunity for KS2 children to connect and unite with children from other faith groups, develop an understanding of each other and share ideas, beliefs and values held both within the Islamic tradition and those of other faiths.

Selected children from year 5 and 6 took part and shared their knowledge of Islam and children from St. Anne’s RC Primary also did the same, which included an investigation of religions and a tour of the mosque, with salah demonstration. An interactive and discursive manner allowed the children to use the day as a forum for discussion and questioning. The day allowed for tolerance and open-mindedness to grow within our children and allowed them to learn from each other.

Jazak Allah Khairun to Musab and Siham (6M), Arwa Dad (5M) and Ayaan Khan (5L).

Let’s us use this opportunity of collaboration with other faith groups, as a reminder to all of us to connect with people from different walks of life and increase in tolerance and unity.
