The Y3 pupils visited the Museum in Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter. The museum used to be the actual factory and had all the equipment left as it used to be. The pupils learnt about the journey of gold from being found in the ground to being made into jewellery. Unfortunately the gold bars were replaced with fake replicas!!! The factory used to be run by the Smith family. What can you remember about the trip? Try to answer the questions below.
Through what dates was the factory open for business?
What were the jobs of Mr Tom, Miss Olive and Mr Eric?
Who’s job would you want to do and why?
Why did they have a wiring layer on the floor of the factory?
What did Miss Olive used to do to make a meeting with a buyer last longer?
How do you think this would have helped?
What countries are gold found in?
Explain some of the pictures to a family member.
