The Key to Success

A better internet starts with YOU!

By Dede Pourahmadi on Friday, February 9, 2018

During E-safety week, ALL pupils, from Reception to Year 6, took part in  workshops and presentations where they have learnt how to use technology safely and respectfully, the importance of keeping personal information private and know what to do if they are concerned about anything. Pupils, already have a   consistent reference to the SMART code throughout year and across subjects. The workshop from UNIQUE VOICE has made pupils more aware of the consequences of their online actions. Thanks to a very interactive presentation, pupils can now better understand “digital footprints”, what not to share, have an increased confidence in responding and reporting Online Safety issues, are aware of the differences between the online world and real life but also they are confident into sharing the information learnt with a trusted adult and the community and enjoyed sharing this new acquired knowledge during their weekly assembly.

I really enjoyed learning about how to stay safe online. I remember what SAFE stands. S stands for safe A stands for argument F stands for friend E stands encouraged. I also enjoyed when we learnt how to do something about a mean comment. First tell a trusted adult then block it and then report it. I learnt not to tell your password. Downed make your password simple include at least one capital letter. Never meat up with anyone because they might not be who they say they are. Do not send photos on the internet because everyone can see it and some people might make some mean comments about the photo. Do not leave a mean comment that a person sends because then it will stay there forever.

I loved learning about how to stay safe online. I also liked the activities we done, for example: choosing the most appropriate password for three people. I also liked Boot Camp. It was very fun! It was very fun when we had choose whether the scenarios were safe or unsafe. We also learnt that your password should at least be 8 characters long, it should at least have one capital letter and it should include a few symbols.
